I CAN'T see clearly now the rain is gone...

My eyes have been giving me the worst time today. This morning I thought it was because I was out late last night, and perhaps I was still tired and maybe my contacts hadnt been in the solution long enough. Driving into work, my eyes were forcing themselves closed. And in the office, I had to play monkey gaffer, adjusting the tract lighting on the ceiling above my desk as to not feel blinded by the slightest hint of light. Though as the day went on, and a little rain shower came and went, and I had sufficiently rubbed all the makeup off from my eyes...I came to the conclusion---I am having allergy problems. I've had some sneezing, and facial itching as well. I grew up with the worst allergies in the world. (The plant I am most allergic to is the Mesquite tree...I grew up next to a town called Mesquite...you do the math). BUT after living in California for 5 years (both in Nor and So Cals), I managed to forget those tortuous years and have been living allergy free. Until recently! I have had about 3 days of unbearable allergy attacks in the last 2 months. WHAT IS UP?? I dont get it. Not only is is uncomfortable, and renders me nearly blind, I also end up looking like a baby mouse. Yes, yes. I have red eyelashes, combine that with the ruddiness on certain parts of my skin---especially my eyelids (I am living up to the meaning of my Russell side of the family name ...http://genealogy.about.com/library/surnames/r/bl_name-RUSSELL.htm ...) ...and I think I resemble the picture below.  Needless to say, I am not feeling my most attractive today.  Which brings me back to the realization I had last night. I seriously can no longer go ANYWHERE looking like a hot mess, because I see people I know EVERYWHERE. And its no longer I just see people I know that frequent the places I frequent. I see people I would never expect to see in the most random of places. Albeit, last night I wasnt surprised to see the people I didnt expect to see where I saw them, but when you walk into a number of places and know no less than 5 to 10 of the people there...you've got make sure you are looking cute. I don't want my ragamuffin tendencies getting out on the street. Haha. In all seriousness, if you know me, you know I am not THAT vain. However, this does make it a bit more difficult to be inconspicuous with my carrying ons.  :D

I usually start the trends...

A number of friends have started blogs recently, and I've decided to join the band wagon...we shall see how long it lasts, but for now, welcome to my blog. I'm not really sure how this whole blogging world works...so if you have tips, feel free to let me know. If you are reading this, you probably know me at least a little, cause otherwise why would you care? Though I am somewhat of a celebrity in amongst the people I know, so I guess you should care. Haha. You should be prepared for alot of ellipses in this blog...I write very train of thought.  Anywho...I guess I will be blogging about things on my mind or occurrences in my life.  If there is a topic you feel I should or should not be touching on, who cares? Get your own blog. That being said...if you have a blog of your own, please share it with me, so I can copy your entries and change the names. Welcome to THE LIFE AND TIMES OF WONDER BUG.

**Footnote regarding the title of this blog:  You may be asking yourself, "what is a wonder bug, and what sort of time does it keep"...well my friends, the origin of this name comes from my lifelong nickname---the "official name" is Jiffy Bug (you may have seen the tattoo on my wrist of that name)...I have been called this my whole life. My Dad shortened it further to just "Jiffy" (I think he's called me Jennifer twice in my life), and my uncle has only ever called me "Bug" (even my cousins call me Bug...I'm not sure if they even know my real name). ANYWAY....upon seeing the new AWESOME movie "KICK-ASS" yesterday, my friends and I decided to give ourselves superhero names (though I chose the name Wonder Bug prior to actually watching the film, and afterwards thought I should have chosen something a bit more fierce (and I mean actually threatening in appearance or demeanor not the Tyra Banks/Beyonce kind of fierce).  And while we are on the subject of nicknames...I only go by the following: Jiffy, Bug, Radar, JD, or Baby. PLEASE DO NOT CALL ME JENN. ok thanks. Now that I have finally gotten that off my chest.  My friends, finding Bug to be rather endearing, seem to be in attempt to establish that as a "community wide" nickname, which I am totally on board with. .....so yeah, that explains the name of my blog. Also, I get on random tangents.

Have fun in the inter-workings of my random thoughts :). I'm glad you're here.
